I don't even remember my first encounter with alcohol

I was such a cool kid

I don't really drink.

I mean, I like wine, and I like rum, and various other drinks, but I like them because they're not just drinks. You can cook with them, too.

I hate beer.

I don't drink any alcohol.

However, I can and will eat food cooked with wine or beer.

I'm afraid to drink alcohol with any regularity because I've seen where that takes you. I really don't want to go down that road.
Drinking is okay, I guess. I've only done it once and found out I'm a huge lightweight(but I was like 13 so). It's kind of scary thinking back on it, but I had a good time until I started coming down. Felt good again after half an hour though.
Pork chops sizzled in some wine taste pretty good.

I can drink quite a lot without being noticeably drunk, mostly because drunk me has about the level of social interactions that normal people have when sober. I've also learned from experience when to stop drinking so I don't feel like death the next morning. The thing is I hardly ever drink anymore since I drive everywhere now.

I just don't enjoy it. It's the same reason I don't smoke pot. I like to be 100% in control of my actions and words and feelings.

I don't drink because I'm a sad drunk. I just loose all will to keep up a happy persona and instead just sorta sit in the corner, nursing my drink and snapping at anyone who tries to talk to me.

I feel you man. I really don't like the idea of not thinking straight.
And I don't get why people try to get me to drink by telling me horror stories about when they were drunk. They always end up somewhat like this:
"And when I woke up, for the next 6 hours, I thought my dick had vanished. Turns out the dog buried it. Doctors say they can't re-attach it. Anyway, it was a great party!"

This does not tempt me to try drinking.
Yes, I know not everyone ends up tackling running lawnmower blades genitals first when drunk, but I'm usually being told this by teenagers, who, as we know, are already pretty damn stupid. Alcohol/drugs do not help.

Now, I will drink at a party, or with friends, but Im not going to get shit-faced. Hell, I'll usually try to avoid getting buzzed.


Same with pot. I know it won't make me do stupid shit, but I don't want to be altered at all. If Im sad about something, and I smoke something, and it makes me happy for a little while, I would not enjoy that, because it's not really being happy. It's the plant telling my brain to tell me to be happy, and I JUST DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT.

No, it is lowering your inhibitions, increasing the serotonin levels in your brain so that you are not as upset as you usually are. It doesn't push the 'happy' button because you don't have one. If you were sad and smoked some weed, you wouldn't be happy all of the sudden, you'd just stop caring about being sad.

The trouble comes when casual use turns into substance abuse, where you begin to perceive that you physically need drugs just to have the capacity for happiness. It's not true, but it's a lot easier to smoke some bud than to tackle your emotional problems and deal with withdrawals.

The trouble I have with Zebra's line of thought is that when you're depressed(as is common in my family), you begin to resent having to take drugs like Prozac, because you think they're changing your brain chemistry so that you'll have to be happy. But it's detrimental to oneself to buy into that line of thought, because even on drugs like that, you are still you and you still have choices to make about how you feel and how you think. What the drugs actually do is give you more choices by helping you not be incapacitated by depression.

To be fair, I've never been, nor understood depression.

When Im in a depressing situation (Which, due to me being who I am, is already rare) I simply.... Don't be depressed.

Don't get me wrong, Im not judging people for being depressed, or saying it's stupid or anything, I simply do not understand it. I can't comprehend being depressed, to that extent.
