Speaking of owls;

The embed was disabled by request. The official trailer for Legend of The Guardians : The Owls of Ga Hoole. The movie is based of a book of the same name, and coming from someone who read the books and is a huge fan, my biased opinion says this movie looks amazing.

Edit for embed win;

I don't think Toy Story 3 is here.
Why can't we have global release dates?

I mentioned The Girl Who Leapt Through Time! a friend of mine lent me it, and it's so funny.

Regarding the Owl film......................that is exactly the type of film that would look excellent in 3D. I'm glad they stated what it was based on. It looks a tad corny to me, but then this is the person who went to see How to Train your Dragon and loved it.

As it turns out I seem to watch animations more than live-action: invariably they turn out to be more interesting. I won't turn down a good live-action though.

Let me see, which are my favourite animations in recent years?

How To Train Your Dragon
Fantastic Mr Fox
Coraline
9
Corpse Bride (Brilliant, albeit short)
WALL-E

and many more, probably....

EDIT: Okay, Legend of the Guardians looks awesome.

My two all-time favorite films are Gattaca and Memento. So, yeah. Watch them and experience the sheer awesome. Or something.

EDIT: Okay, Legend of the Guardians looks awesome.

The books were written for young adults so they were somewhat corny in themselves, but they were really well written and creative so hopefully the movie will carry the books cleverness while still holding it's unique style. I'll admit, I give them credit for having the balls to make an animated owl movie - besides little kids, that has to appeal to a small group of people. I hope the movie does well.

I've never seen How to train your Dragon, but I might eventually - wasn't really rushing out of my house to go see it because I don't really like the art style, but I've heard enough good reviews to overlook that.

I've never seen Coraline (but the movie looks like it does the book no justice anyway), 9 or Fantastical Mr. Fox, but I heard 9 was overrated and Fantastical Mr. Fox is more of an artsy film then children's film? Again, I will have to watch these for myself to determine, but I've got other movies I want to watch first.

Such as;

You know, I had heard rumours of a Last Airbender movie when I first saw the Avatar trailer, and I was thus very, very confused to see blue people and space marines...[]

It's a movie about a boy who can direct his farts with pinpoint accuracy. How can it go wrong?

Just thank the Owl of Cancer that Michael Bay isn't directing it...

Coraline doesn't really have much in common with the book but it works to its strengths: it's a deliciously dark film that I think is far more entertaining than the book. 9 is fairly unoriginal but overall it's a good film, and Fantastic Mr Fox isn't really a children's film, you're right: it's really funny though.

Hey don't be hating Last Airbender just yet. For a Nickelodeon movie, it looks awesome. I'm just hoping it's better then Spiderwick Chronicles ever was.

Spiderwick Chronicles (movie) was terrible. Read the books, because the movie and game does the books no justice.

I too really enjoyed Fantastic Mr Fox, it's not completely true to the book and I thought I wouldn't like that it was voiced by American actors, but it was really fun and interesting and had a great style of it's own.

I also really enjoyed Coraline, but didn't really see the point in it being 3D. I would have enjoyed it more I think in plain old 2D.
