Also, it's centred on America.

One thing I never get, is the whole "cold climates will protect us!" thing.

We'll just say that there's actual undead zombies, as opposed to virus zombies.
The cold will make them rot slower, keeping them dangerous for longer.

Virus zombies, well, if everyone runs for cold places the zombies will follow and it only takes one zombie/infected-but-not-yet-turned getting into an overcrowded area full of zombie-refugees for a gigantic clusterfuck.

It also assumes that there are guns everywhere, all the time. Also, why don't swords and such count? I'd think they're as, if not more, effective as tiny bullets in removing the head of a zombie.

Keeping in mind that swords put you much closer to the battle and therefore, greatly increases chance of infection/death.
Not that swords/axes/maces and so forth wouldn't be useful or badass, it's just they make things very risky.

True, but they do count blunt edged weapons, like baseball bats, which generally have the same range. When the zombie apocalypse comes, I'm want to go medieval on their asses.
