YES ROY LICHTENSTEIN 

Warhol gets too much credit, methinks. WHAM! has got to be one of my favorite paintings of all time. It's so relevant in modern society, especially with the advent of these blockbuster comic book movies like The Dark Knight that actually have meaning behind them. It challenges the assumption of comics being more infantile and not worthy of status as art. By making a single panel into a painting, Lichtenstein challenged that thought. If a single panel could be art, why can't many panels be art? Why can't comic books be art? That is why I love him, he progressed an entire medium.

I love the dramatic,  visual verbage of the baroque style. There's always  thousands of words worth of stories displayed within the work but I don't have any good examples to share at the moment outside of whats been mentioned by Sasha

Conceptual, Pop, Noir, Animated and Multi-Medium are some of my favorite genres of art as of right now. Below are some artists I really dig, there's so much more but I already spent an hour and more making this post and I'm losing focus so I will post more later

Really love the line and tone on Katya's work
also naked ladies yes A+
but I love the way she uses colour sparsely.
I don't really like the use of colour in Mel Bochner's stuff; it feels like he's splashing it randomly when he could use it to emphasise or contrast with the words.

Jeepers, I hadn't ever thought of it that way even though I learned the same things about other pop artists. I'd never really given any of his work much thought before, gosh.

I really like glitch art. Not a lot of it has assigned meaning so it's just there to look pretty unless you give it meaning. Here is my folder. Pretty much every piece is by a different artist.

I love Miyazaki's stuff, all the bright colors and soft lines. It's like drinking tea flavored with happiness.

Gosh darn it, I don't feel sophisticated enough to talk in this thread. Suffice it to say I love Studio Ghibli's art direction. Even My Neighbours the Yamadas.

You don't have to be sophisticated to enjoy and share art, it's universal to everyone and anyone.

I've got another list of artists lined up to post, just have to find decent examples of their works~

Oh that's surreal - your link only allows one of the images to show up on my computer for some reason, so can you post some of your favorite examples here? How do they even create that?

Nah, but seriously, this is a pretty neat thread. It's all the fun of an art class without having to explain in 200 words why it's fun

I agree completely! I love his work in Final Fantasy, especially Final Fantasy X-2.

The art in Legend Of Zelda Wind Waker, Okami., Shadow of the Colossus, and Journey are amongst some of my favorites, as well as the ones you mentioned Kingdom hearts and World ends with You.

If we're going down a videogames path, one of the most striking games I've played recently is The Unfinished Swan. Its use of colour, or lack thereof, is just amazing. I can't wait to see what the developers, Giant Sparrow, do next.

Another game with an amazing art direction is Bioshock, and Bioshock Infinite. I got an art book with Bioshock 2 with some wonderfully grotesque pictures in: it would have been interesting to see the splicers go down a more sea creature-esque appearance, as presented in the book.

Similarly, the world of Columbia is amazing. It's just a shame the actual setting of Columbia, and all the commentary on America it was establishing, just felt a bit superfluous to the main story in the end. I felt you could take it out entirely without the game being affected, which isn't really a good thing.

I have this too, yes, I really like the one on page 23, I think? It's the streamlined underwater splicer. I really wish they'd done more with the water scenes; submerged combat as a big daddy would've been so radical mph

I know, right? Harvesting sea slugs from the ocean floor isn't exactly a riveting activity.

Well, I can see the merits of no combat underwater, but it'd be nice if those sections let you explore a little more rather than just being funnelled down a fairly linear path with one or two collectibles here and there.
