In this thread we describe games, movies, shows, ect that we have memories of but need help remembering the name. I couldn't decide if this should be here or in serious thread, so let me know your opinions.

  • ART: It was an older game, you played what I think was an older man, who walked around this city in top view mode and had to avoid what I think was black smoke or black tendon like things that would pool around and grab at you. It might have been an early horror game.

Game found! The game was Fur Fighters.
  • Another game involved playing as an anthro animal, usually a dog or cat, and it was a shooter. It was cartoony and you had to click on paw prints that matched your characters to climb or do special moves. I believe you had to shoot the opposing team to win?

  • Another game, involved collecting elemental sprites with cards by using food or other items to bait them and then capture them. I can't remember if you use them in battle, and I doubt that was the main focus of the game. It's just the part I loved doing the most. You could do things like throw meat at some wind elemental or whatever. I think one level was on a boat.

If anyone thinks they know what the heck I'm talking about, I'd appreciate it greatly!

Edit; I'm gonna add another game I remember, but I don't expect anyone here to know it. Mainly because I doubt anyone else played it or enjoyed it enough to remember it.

Game found! It was Crystal's Pony Tale
  • You played a pony who rescued other ponies that were trapped in cages. It was like an early puzzle/adventure game. I remember it being similar to an early Barny game. It might be really old because I was pretty young when I first played it. I want to find it just to see if its as fun as I remember it, that game was balls awesome when I was little.

Fur Fighters Maybe?

I remember playing a game with my cousins a long time ago. I think it was a third or First-person shooter for the N64. I seem to remember playing as some sort of Cyber animal things... I remember it had a neon-y color scheme. That's pretty much all I remember though.

I feel like this whole premise is just a buildup for a Candle Cove gag.

Candle Cove? Wasn't that a kids show about pirates? I remember a pirate marionete at the mouth of a cave talking to a little girl...

Hmmm. Are you thinking of Crystal's Pony Tale?

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/12/11/replay-crystal-s-pony-tale.aspx

Okay, I'm going to post a "Do you Remember..." It was a PS1 fighting game, on a 2D plane, I believe, and there were like these glowing red powerups scattered around the game at strategic points. Quite a dark art style (in terms of lighting, not necessarily in terms of character design.)

That's it!

Was your game a fighting game or beat-them-up type game? Was it similar to Tekken style of play or Double Dragons style, for instance.

It was a bit Super Smash Bros in that you could run around a large arena rather than just circling each other like in Tekken. It was definitely a PS1 release.

I originally thought power stone as well, but Jonny described the game as dark in ligting and that game was pretty vividly colored.

I'm looking for this old DOS point and click adventure game. You're this apprentice wizard and I believe there's this big red dragon or something. I also think there's this recurring gag where this monkey jumps on people's heads if they say "monkey" or something.

Anyone has any idea?

That sounds a lot like the Discworld game. According to TVtropes, A Point and Click game based on Terry Pratchett's book series of the same name [...] This game in question is very loosely adapted from Guards! Guards!, featuring the character Rincewind (a failed apprentice at the Unseen University for wizards) and the Luggage trying to stop a dragon summoned by an evil Brotherhood.

In the discworld game, Whenever someone says the word "Monkey" out loud, the Librarian (who is an Orangutan, and therefore an ape) will enter the scene with a Tarzan yell and hit the culprit over the head. Maybe that's what youre thinking of?

That's exactly it, thanks.

Since Rare is so good at finding things like this, maybe she can also help me find out this other game of my childhood that I have in mind.

A computer puzze game. I think you're a gnome of sorts. On each level, you have to dig and collect all the gems and then make your way to the exit. There's no enemies other than rocks, I believe, and there's some physics involved, like you can push a rock down a small hill you made. I can't really describe it other than that. Last time I played it, I must've been around 5 years old...

Was it Boulder Dash? It's the only other mining game I know of besides Dig Dug.

Released 1984. The game's protagonist is called "Rockford". He must dig through caves collecting gems and diamonds and reach the exit within a time limit, while avoiding various types of obstacles like falling rocks and the constant danger of being crushed or trapped by an avalanche, or killed by an underground explosion

There was this old browser game where you piloted a ship and had to fly your way around a really big map fighting enemies and looking for what I think was called "The Jump Zone." Some maps had tunnels in them, at least one of the maps was a city, and every three maps or so had a boss. You could play from either a first or third person view, and you could fly up beyond the clouds, but wouldn't be able to see anything below you.

Found it. Turns out it was a Boulder Dash clone of sorts. And it's not diamonds, it's hearts. The name's Heartlight

Glad you found it, I knew it had to be some form of Boulder Dash. Those kinds of games that are easy to make millions of clones of are almost impossible to track down.

I am not old enough to have forgotten games from my childhood. Plus I never had that many, preferring to play with my siblings.

I do know you can't say the m word around the Librarian, though. So instead of 'monkey' Vimes generally uses the word 'Librarian'.
Speakin' of games, did you guys ever used to play Zoombinis? My favorite.
