Well, in a way, yeah. The townspeople aren't threatening to kill Jack for describing Christmas to them. They don't even understand Christmas as a thing.

I think Ziggy's argument makes sense, although I still don't get why Jack goes scarifying Christmas…unless that is his only avenue of expression. I'm mainly thinking of his "I grow so weary of the sound of screams" line.

Maybe he was only weary of Halloween in of itself, as he had expressed himself all Halloweenly in the same ways for so long, and by understanding Christmastown better, he could find ways to incorporate his innate knack for scaring people into this new and exciting thing.

Like a guy who has been a really great baker, but has started to tire of it, and then he gets exposed to pornography for the first time. At that point, he decides to combine his old talent with his new interest, and invents erotic cakes.

Wasn't really intending to, but ended up sitting through a double-feature of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug last night/this morning. Currently operating on about 2 hours of sleep. Yay me. []

It was, and I say this as a book stickler...that said, if you are a book stickler like me you will find a lot objectionable...as I did. However, it is still a great movie. []

I went to go see Frozen on Saturday with my friend! I really enjoyed it. I don't know if it's the best Disney film ever, but the songs (yay, songs return!) were much better than Tangled's even if they weren't on a Hercules/Beauty and the Beast level, and the story took some really interesting twists and turns. I also think Olaf is one of Disney's best comic reliefs in recent years, and Elsa is probably my favourite Disney 'princess' right now. Strictly speaking she's a queen, so that counts, right?

The main song, Let it Go, is pretty catchy. I've watched this video more times than I'm comfortable admitting. I think I've seen Frozen described as a Broadway show in some respects, and from that perspective I think I appreciate it more. I can totally see this working as a stage musical.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is now one of my favourite holiday movies, right up there with Die Hard. Also, it's free for download on the Internet Archive. []

The Desolation of Smaug was pretty okay! I felt like they were reaching on some things, and I got kinda bored in parts... watching Legolas go through orcs like a hot knife through butter, for like a solid forty-five minutes. I enjoyed it very much, though.

There's no stopping Tha Dogg Pound and Doctor Dre. Also, while "smoke weed everyday" is commonly attributed to Snoop Dogg, it was actually Nate Dogg who said it.

I can't decide how I feel about it, really. The artistry on display is just staggering: everything is made of Lego bricks, from the buildings to the streets to the billowing smoke to the water. There's some really nice nods to Lego sets past and present, and the story goes to some surprisingly emotional places.

At the same time, I'm wondering how good the script really is (there's a few plot holes if you begin to examine it too closely) the jokes aren't necessarily the funniest ever written and quite frankly you can see the big twist in the third act coming a mile off. It's still a clever ending, and fits with the sort of message one associates with Lego, but it's disappointing that it wasn't quite the sucker punch it was made out to be in the reviews.

I don't think it's a bad film by any means: as I said, it's amazing to look at, there's a lot for Lego fans and it's a sweet tale. I guess I just found some of the key parts of the film- dialogue and story- a little lacking in the end. I'd definitely recommend going to see it, however.

EDIT: I'll talk about the problems I had with the film in spoiler tags.

Spoiler:
