I don't like it when people call me and expect me to answer the phone.
I'm not an answering machine, that's why I have an answering machine.
I don't have to answer the phone if I don't want to. It's my phone.
Then, when I don't pick up they start bombarding me with text messages:
"Why didn't you answer your phone? Are you okay? Why don't you like talking on the phone? Are you sure you're okay?"
I could be on top of Everest and somehow my phone would still get reception and people would call me. It is so insanely difficult to get people to understand that I don't bow to their petty social laws and I will answer my phone when I damn well please.
I also don't like it when I pick up and the person just starts blabbering into their end. There's no "are you busy? Can you chat for a bit?" it just goes straight into:
"did you know burnt toast causes cancer? I knew that condoms were the leading cause of malnutrition but I didn't know that they were sponsored by Hitler! Do you think I can get a refund on that set of khaki pants I bought on Sunday?"
I think I am going to get rid of my phone.

You sound like the sort of man that would approve of the conversations I have with my father over the phone.
They go something like this:
"Hi. I'm going to be a bit late."
"Okay, bye."
Average call length is about 7-15 seconds, depending on the length of the message needed to be relayed.

Considering that probably 'poisoner' wasn't meant literally it sounds like a fairly accurate translation to me, if you consider the Puritan definition of a witch being 'one who corrupts by chatting up the devil'.

I think it ha something to do with not being used for proper communication.
Latin is USED but only to call "face melt disease" facecius meltificus and so on. (Yes, I know I just butcherd the language. Leave me alone). We don't actually use it to talk to one another like other languages.

I am under the impression that "dead language" is just something that people say to sound superior. There's an actual language death but I don't think anyone actually thinks of that.

A dead language is a language people don't add new words to. They might add new phrases, like we do with Latin, but no entirely new words are being created.
