Ok, here goes, I hope I'm explaining this right.

Three men are stood in a row, facing forward so the last man can see the first two, the second man can see the first one, and the first man sees noone. There are 5 hats, two white and three black. Three of the hats are placed on the men's heads and the rest hidden. The men have not seen their own hats but they must guess their colour.

The first and the second man say they don't know, but the first one claims he does. What is the colour of the first man's hat?

That refers to the colour of the hat, not the colour of the men. That would just be weird.

Because the actual premise of the riddle is so much more conventional.

Alright, so you wake up in a room with two birds on one side and two doors on the other. One door leads you back home, the other leads to painful painful fire.
The two birds can talk, but you can only ask one of them one question. One bird speaks only the truth, the other speaks only lies, but you don't know which bird says which.

What do you ask either bird to find out for certain which door will take you to safety?

Ask one bird what the second bird would say, then assume that the answer is false.

If the bird you ask is telling the truth, then you know the second bird is lying and his answer can be disregarded. If the bird you ask is lying, then you know he's putting words in the other bird's mouth and again the answer can be subtituted for the other one.

The man who built it doesn't want it, the man who buys it doesn't need it, and the man who uses it will need it once.

What is it?

I mean, the wider the graph is, the less empty it becomes...so...yeah

I think the problem here is the definition of the parameters.

How do you define width? The area in a certain interval? The width of the graph as going from the first point of the plotted line to the last one? In that case you could, for instance, be creating more (or less) empty space by extending the line, affecting the next point and so on.

How do you define emptiness? The amount of un-plotted points in this function's domain? The amount of un-plotted points of the curve in a defined interval? The surface under the curve?

The thing with most, if not all, of these is that the values are circularly defined. This means that by fixing one value, you're affecting the other, which affects the first value again,...
