The copy of MK2 I got for Genesis was non-functional, so I traded it back for MK1 in box, and an actual Dreamcast memory card, as opposed to the 3rd party one I'd been using...:P [ ]

They've got a really good recipe for Pokemon games so i dont think they'll change very soon but god damn am I sick of trying to catch them all in that top-down view

Make a PROPER open world pokemon FPS
real-time combat instead of turn-based
write an actual story instead of "beat the elite four and catch pokemon"
like
a guy catches a Ditto as his starter and main and you have to carefully choose when to use Transform and focus on when it wears off and stuff to beat challenges and puzzles and fights
and he has to stop Team Rocket from dismantling the Elite Four and stealing people's pokemon and tearing apart the system
or maybe they destroyed the whole pokemon containment system so you can never have more than 6 pokemon until you find a way to free Bill from their clutches and fix it
destructible environments that react to the moves you use

sell out all stock forever make trillions

This.
Also, I feel it's a fair assumption that any Pokemon MMO made would make so much money they'd need to invent new forms of mathematics to calculate their profits.
Even if it's just the same fighting style as we have in the normal games, being able to interact/challenge/trade with other players with ease on such a wide scale would make them all the currency.
That'd be a shame, though. I feel they need to make what everyone hoped mystery dungeon would be. Playing as a pocket monster with real time combat and not just more turn based fighting but with a smaller party. Seriously. Even if it was just a WoW clone but with pocket abominations people would be falling over themselves to sacrifice their first born child for the chance to play such a game. They'd do it. Happily.

Like 99 percent of the new pokemon evolutions have very minor changes - Charizard just has spikes now and Blastoise just has his hydropumps moved or something.

Venasaur with shit on his head looks less dumb then most of the new pokemon coming out is what I'm saying

An adult Pokémon game has been requested from fans since around Crystal (It might have been demanded even earlier but that was just around the time I noticed demand for it) and the closest we've gotten is 3-D very minor character development and maybe slightly darker story plots. Like Bowen said, people would resort to ancient Mayan death rituals for even the most generic of Pokémon MMO.

People can continue to want all this stuff but as long as Nintendo sees young kids as its main demographic they aren't going to change anything drastic, which is a really bitter pill to swallow since I'm certain at this point the biggest majority of Pokémon fans are eighteen year olds and older (despite most of them acting like manchildren)

If you really want an adult Pokémon you can always check out the Japanese manga (specifically Pokemon Adventures), it's about as dark and adult/mature as one can get with Pokémon for now.

Also if anyone wants to see the newest Pokémon released here's a pretty good compiled list with pictures of the ones in X and Y including Mega-Evolutions

Most of the Mega-Evolutions are weak in design but Absol looks beautiful wow

Absol has ALWAYS been pretty.

And no Jonny, you're the third person I've heard make the comparison between Digifolk to Roidemon. And I'm pretty certain it was even the same Digicritter they were reminded of.

Nephew, Metal Greymon was the ultimate digivolution, not the mega, digivolution. War Greymon was the mega digivolution.

Why does it even have a groin plate? Somehow I think it would seem less erotic with less clothing.

Actually, there is a legit reason for it being that way.
Basically, it's modeling the kind of "Hercules" style of hero that supposed to be extremely strong and savage. One of the recurring designs with such characters is not having pants, just a loin cloth with some greaves. This is because one of the common wear of gladiators include cloth around the waist and greaves, so it naturally goes into that. The loin cloth also suggests simplicity, that he makes more work of his muscles and weapons then he does dressing himself, which implies that he dedicates the majority of his life to fighting.
Why the hanging groin PLATE? Because they figured "Hey, we've got the loin cloth, but I think we could make it cooler by making it METAL!"
Of course, this just fails and makes the loin cloth deal look stupid.

Thanks for the backstory Kat, as interesting as that is I admit it doesn't make the design choice any less stupid.

Brief change of topic but does anyone else immediately find "trend games" to be significantly less interesting or impactful? I'm already finding "Outlast" to be underwhelming and predictable with the amount of people going on about how 'scary' it is. I've seen screenshots and some demo plays. Doesn't look that great to me and I'm jaded from the hype.

Not really. I heard for a year or two how great Portal was after it came out, and then I played it and holy balls was it great. Portal 2 was the same way, of course.
I also really enjoy popular games like L4D2, Arkham Asylum and City, Borderlands, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, and the like. Lots of people really love these games, and it so happens I'm one of 'em. I don't play as many as y'all do, of course, so it's possible I'm just getting the cream out of the crop out of these, but I think lots of popular games get that way for a reason.

Speaking of scary games, I decided to get a custom story for Amnesia: the Dark Descent, to prepare myself a bit with the "Machine for Pigs" one coming up in a few days.

I played for about 20 minutes before I was like "HAHAHAHAHAHA NOPE" and quit like a sissy

Now I can't wait for "MfP" to come out

Alright, since Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs came out today, I figured 6 PM is late enough and decided to try playing it a bit.

And so far, I have to admit...I'm a little disappointed. They took out one of the scariest aspect from Dark Descent, and that is: an inventory screen. In DD, your inventory not only showed you what you currently had, but also, your health, your sanity, and how many tinderboxes and lantern fuel you have.

So far, it doesn't seem like you have sanity or a way to measure your health. But the worse is the tinderboxes and fuel. Tinderboxes? Why would you want to carefully count how many of those you have and carefully plan out what lights you should or should not lit in a dark room, making you feel only limited security? There's lamps everywhere, and you can light up the area with a click of a finger. No problem.

Fuel? Why would you want to freak out when your only portable light source is dying out in the middle of a dark room with monsters that may or may not be around the next corner? Your lantern in this game is a lightbulb that never runs out of juice. Because fuck fuel. I honest to God kept my lantern open for a good 10 minutes in that game, with nothing bad happening to me. Doing that in DD would've been a death wish.

Now, don't get me wrong. It looks nice, it's very creepy, and I'm pretty sure I'll need new underpants later on in the game. But right now, they took away one of my favorite aspects of Dark Descent for no reason but to tone down the difficulty, and I'm a little peeved.

"Making a game more accessible" is the gaming equivalent of founding a Hitler fan club and declaring war on kittens in the same week. It's guaranteed to instil profound and aggressive hatred in all who hear about it.
