Abbreviations are silly. WWW is longer than the original phrase.

your source is wrong, Jonny. a word can't be derived from a word it is older than. the spelling difference should also clue you in that the roots are different. []

TTBM: Apparently, my days off from work are not actually days off. They're what I call: "I'm not supposed to go in to work today, but there's a 90% chance that i'll end up getting called in anyways."

One of the Assistant Manager's in my store is in the hospital for today, tomorrow, and maybe the next day, so I have to fill in for her. I don't mind filling in for someone that has to go to the hospital, but it still pisses me off. Because of this event, I've been working for nearly two and a half weeks straight, and I don't even know when my next "day off" will be.

I'm starting to hate my job with each and every passing day, but I have to keep it in order to pay bills, or until I can find a better job...

(LGBT Society) is open to ANYONE of ANY SEXUALITY OR GENDER IDENTITY, as are all our exec positions. However, please remember that we are here to work for LGBTQ rights and to provide a space for LGBTQ and straight people to socialise.

We would like to make it clear that, as an association, UNIVERSITY AND UNION STAFF CAN BE MEMBERS UPON REQUEST, HAVE FULL SPEAKING AND VOTING RIGHTS AND MAY RUN FOR ANY POSITIONS ON THE EXEC.

The problem I have with these sorts of societies is that the intended userbase is so wide as to be meaningless. I viewed the LGBT society as a space for LGBT students to socialise and get together but by saying that anyone can join it just becomes a space for people vaguely interested in gay rights to get together in. It's not a place for gay people specifically: it's just a place people visit, which kind of defeats the point. What unites the people in the society? It's like celebrating hair colour. It's all well and good saying it's for gay rights and gay people to socialise but how do you enforce it? Can you even?

Being gay is hard. It's hard to find someone to start a relationship with and it's hard to even establish if someone is interested in you to begin with. I just think we need a space that is just for us, where gay people can hang out with other gay people of a similiar age (one person brough their mother to the social. Seriously, people, do not bring your mother to a space like this. You are not wanted or needed). Would the straight population miss out on being excluded from this?

It sounds like they're trying to avoid excluding anyone because they might somehow get in trouble otherwise.

Yes, I see that point and I think it's a valid one. But I think you could argue most societies and social spaces are heterosexual by default. It's not as if the average heterosexual is running short of places to meet people.

Yes, they should put more of an emphasis on the nature of the society and it's purpose rather then political correctness of not excluding anyone.

It seems like they are trying to be very politically correct which defeats the purpose of the group.

Death is a terrible thing, but it happens. It sucks. BIG TIME. Eventually, it happens to all of us. Set aside a time for grieving, get the grieving out of your system, then try and move forward.
