I haven't, but I've heard it's good, so I might give it a try in the future, if you recommend it.

Thanks for the linkie Gorgro; I'll give them a shot too, when I've got time.

I finally picked up Valkyria Chronicles again! Managed to beat the mission I was stuck on two. Something of a shocking revelation just came about too.

VG: Just played a demo of Sniper Elite.

Woah.

There is nothing more satisfying than catching the glint of an enemy sniper's scope, dropping onto the ground, and then shooting him through it.

Also, when you shoot a guy, and the bullet goes through his heart, into another guy's face.

I think I might buy this game.

Downloading The Witcher 2: ASSASSINS OF KINGS ENHANCED EDITION from GOG, finally. It will totally be worth the wait. So excited, oh gosh. Only 16301968137 hours until the 15gb download finishes.

It's probably going to crash my computer on startup, it's supposed to be such a resource hoarder.

I will be so disappoint if it does.

So was the zombie invasion due to Aperture? Does this mean L4D and Portal are in the same universe (along with Half-Life?)

Edit - I believe that was actually fan made. I was hoping it was legit.

Alright, so, in RDR, I was walking along in Mexico, hunting. I had just killed two coyotes a rabbit, and three birds, all in the same place.

SO, Im standing there, surrounded by the bodies of my slain prey, and this guy walks up to me.

"Oi, Senor, can you help me get to town?"

So I was all like, "SURE, CITIZEN, I SHALL HELP YOU GET TO TOWN!"

So I whistle for my horse. It trots up next to me, and the guy just jumps onto my horse and says, "See ya!"

DID YOU THINK I WOULD JUST LET YOU LEAVE, MEXICAN HORSETHIEF? IM STANDING THERE WITH A REVOLVER IN MY HAND, COVERED IN BLOOD AND GORE, WITH BODIES ALL AROUND ME. DID YOU THINK IT WAS A MOVIE SET?

So I shot him in the back.

You kill them quickly and painlessly? Whenever someone steals my horse, I lasso them, get on my horse, and then proceed to drag them aroudn until I get bored or they die.

It was getting late, and I was trying to get back to town before nightfall. So I just shot him in the back and left him for the wolves.

He was probably still alive.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 has been announced for the 3DS. As you might expect everyone is treating it as God's gift to gaming, but it just looks so bloody BORING. It's got the same bland art style as the more recent games, it blatently recycles elements like the raccoon suit...but everyone just laps it up and proclaims it as the best thing ever created.

I just feel that we should be demanding more from games like this. I mean, yeah, this is coming from a viewpoint of someone who isn't a diehard Nintendo fan and hasn't actually played the game in question. But games like Mario are always praised for "returning to their roots" and re-using old elements from games as if it's some stroke of genius. But to me it just feels lazy. It feels lazy on the developer's part for not coming up with something new (especially when they come up with stuff like the Cloud Suit) and it feels lazy on us for just basking in a (sometimes false) nostalgia because it pushes some well-worn button in our heads: one of comfort and solidarity. Oh, it's a Mario game, it's going to be great, anyone who speaks against it is clearly a $ony fanboy who hates fun...

Apparently there's a 2D Mario game coming for the Wii U as well, and I don't have an awful lot of faith in it. What I want to know is if it's going to really use the hardware in vital ways or if it's just going to be a bit of a sideshow like it was in Mario Galaxy. The point is, to me Mario just gets deified because it's seen as this golden, pure series that is so brilliant that everything it does is a stroke of brilliance, or it's so familiar to us that we embrace the old, boring designs because they simulate some warm little spot of nostalgia in our brains. I just feel we can do much, much better than this, as gamers and as developers.
