Ok, I misread it. It said "...a crazed member of the Houston Police Department pulled a shotgun on a peaceful but vocal crowd as it tried to shut down a free event with more than one hundred people in attendance at a private residence on the premise of a noise complaint."
I thought it was saying the crowd was trying to shut down an event. My bad. Im also pretty certain it's a
very biased news report. Im sure it's not telling the full story. That crowd was drunken, violent, and shouting obscenities at the officers. It seems like the HPD has run into these "Houston Free Thinkers" before. They probably knew what to expect, and reacted accordingly. Had that cop not pulled out a shotgun, Im sure it would have escalated. The fact that it was a real shotgun, and not a riot gun, really makes no difference. Had it been a riot gun, then it would have been suspicious. But all cops have shotguns in their squad cars.
Watching the video again, what I see is this:
Someone called the cops because of a noise complaint. These people were having a huge gathering in a residential area. Im sure their neighbors didnt appreciate that.
When they attempted to arrest that one person, the crowd began to get hostile(er) not to mention the fact that she was trying to resist. The crowd started moving towards the police, so they pulled a gun. Im not saying the police couldnt have handled it better, but they were obviously stressed, and they felt that they were in danger.
EDIT: Here is the website of the Houston Free Thinkers.
