What unnerves me though, is that even if that was in the game itself, I still probably wouldn't have felt anything.

In order to prove that I am not totally without a heart though, I did have a crying fit over something that happened in Oblivion when I was younger.
Sorry for getting pretty video gamey in the RT thread, but I just wanted to mention this, because it's one of the few times I can remember being absolutely devestated over a game.

- The Grand Champion of the Arena wants you to find out proof that he has nobleman blood in him because he's sure that he is the product of a lord's affair. It turns out that he was right, but this lord turned out to be a vampire. You tell him this, and he gets so horrified and depressed that he asks you to kill him. At this point, I had gotten through everything else in the Arena, so I immediatley asked for a match between him and I.
During that match, he doesn't even put up a fight, and just begs you to kill him because he's a monster. I did so, and felt a little sad, but nothing unbearable.
But it turns out that killing him in such a way enables you to join the Dark Brotherhood, because it counts as a murder.
Before that point, I had scarcely even heard of the Dark Brotherhood, so to have some creepy guy in all black wake my guy up from sleeping and say stuff like "You sleep rather soundly for a murderer" before offering me a chance to join, I was a little...overwhelmed.
Eventually though, I reloaded another save file and didn't do the quest for the Grand Champion. That way, fighting him in the Arena was a fair match, and didn't count as a murder.
Sorry for getting pretty video gamey in the RT thread, but I just wanted to mention this, because it's one of the few times I can remember being absolutely devestated over a game.

The saddest line in any video game I have played has to be from the first Portal, when you're fighting GLaDOS.

I didn't think about it then, but it just shows how senseless what you were doing was. You were smashing a reasoning being apart piece by piece and burning them in front of it. That's borderline psychotic. Heck, that's not even borderline. You acted so overly cruel. No one deserved GLaDOS' fate.

I was halfway home at that stage though.
I wouldn't normally bother hitching 5 kilometres but it was drizzling and threatening thunderstorms.
Gonna be fun when I try to hitch a whole 45 kilometres next week.
Maybe twice if I can't get a lift up.
On the plus side I got my prescription refilled, my grocery crap done and Ben and Jerrys for breafast.
Because motherfuckers suck fucks.

The Links Awakening Manga, does that, too.
It's all whacky fun, with Link cursing owls for not shutting up, people turning into racoons and Link Dynamite kicking everyone, and suddenly

True, you find this out in the game, but it's still a lot more emotional when Link's not a silent rock.

I think that's the reason the manga is giving me a whole new love for the franchise. I don't usually read manga, but I love LoZ, it's been my favorite game series since I was old enough to hold the game controller. So I gave it thorough reading, and you learn and feel things you never do in the games.
Yeah, it's more impactful when Link actually says things other than "...." and "He-YA!"

Huh? Out of the millions of snakes in the world, it just happened to be that one? What was the point of Voldy searching for that one snake to use? It's not like Harry made any kind of tight bond with the animal.
