TTBM: So, in Texas, a teacher was found guilty of sleeping with five of her students. Now, normally, I would say that's rather inappropriate. However, all of these students were at least 18.

Apparently, though, it's illegal for a teacher and a student to engage in sexual relations, regardless of whether they are two, consenting adults, or not.

Ok, really Texas? I mean, I like the whole "Death penalty" thing, and all, but this is just ridiculous. The state should have no right to determine who I can and cannot sleep with, so long as we're both consenting adults.

(Oh, but, like, if I am drunk or something, and Im about to bang a fat chick, you can like, totally step in there, Texas. Stop me on that one.)

I believe it's mostly because it looks wrong more than anything else, what with the teacher being a sort of supervisor and stuff.

I would like to see what the penalty is going to be.

You shouldn't sleep with your students because it's a conflict of interest. You can't provide accurate performance-based grades and be objective about the education of someone with whom you're romantically involved. Or something.

One thing you should know about the Texas educational system: It is incredibly fucked up from any standpoint. But not sleeping with students is probably one of the better laws in there.

That's a weak stand-point to base your law on. I can sleep with any number of people and feel absolutely nothing for them. She was sleeping with five different people, and she was also married. She clearly doesn't put too much into sex. I doubt they were romantically involved.


Besides, it's not the state's job to tell you how to run your life. If you and your student fall in love (Cheesy, yes) then I guess you're just fucked, huh? It's directly against that whole "Pursuit of happiness" thing.

If you work for the state, it pretty much gets to determine how you run your life. Just like any government job.

I think the school has every right to fire her, if they think she is polluting her objective judgement on grading these students by sleeping with some of them.

The law shouldn't get involved though, no Snuggle kittens or harassment was involved. As long as the students were over 18, I don't see why this would be a crime.

I agree. The scholl, of course, has every right to fire anyone they want. But I think arresting someone for sleeping with another consenting adult is rather..... Idiotic.

TTBM: Well, for the 2nd time in 2 days, my house is being filled with a variety of drug addicts. How wonderful. And to think, I was hoping for a quiet weekend for once. How silly of me.

Just half an hour ago, my house was filled with people drinking, doing ecstasy and smoking weed, though I can't say my situation was worse than yours.

Yep. Or when they wander in and eat damn near everything in the house. Without even saying "Yeah, I'm gonna eat this now", let alone asking if it was okay.
I'm not sure how many times what was going to be my dinner for the night has been eaten by some bloke so out of it he can't even taste it, but once was already far too many times.

Biscuit was Fluttershy because someone said something about wanting to dunk Fluttershy in his tea and that it should filter in biscuits. I THOUGH THE FILTER WAS OBVIOUS BUT GUESS NOW SO CHANGED IT BAAAAACK.

TTBM: I've been sleeping on the same mattress since about 1998...it's becoming a problem. We got a memory-foam cushion top, but it's not doing much to help. []

TTBM: Eating way too much even through I'm trying to be more moderate and healthy. I clearly can't be trusted with anything when I'm on my own.
