I'm starting to have feelings of gelt about all this, especially so close to Chanukah (I'm nigh-unbeatable at dreidel)...[]

Today I learned about a charming Spanish (?) custom which involves throwing a live goat out of a belfry. There is a tarpaulin at the bottom to catch the goat but obviously this does not have a 100% success rate.

TTBM: I spent all evening being Christmassy, putting up the tree by my lonesome and listening to Christmas songs, thinking about how much I love my family... then my dad came in and starting complaining about how the house still smells like piss.
I wish my emotions weren't so tied to his. I've been so long on my feet that my legs ache working on doing things no one else will do and he hasn't told me thanks. The only sign we're still on good terms I got was a beep and a poke.

Awww that sucks. Over here, they apparently dont celebrate holidays the same way. They just kind of drink beer. Or do nothing at all. I have seen one house decorated. We dont even have a tree!

As a side note, what the hell is a beep and poke?

I do believe it's when you go "beep!" and then poke someone.

The assholes in the grant office actually gave me my money this month, which is great.
They decided not to give me the two months' worth of money I'm owed, which is complete and utter bollox.
I am coming increasingly closer to just straight murdering them all and taking any money that happens to be on-site.

And yet, all they can do is dance and prance at the fact that Kim Jong-Il has died. They're calling it their 'Year of the Fallen Dictator', and comparing it to the falls in Tunisia, Egypt, and of course, Libya.

Not a single one has considered the very major difference between these nations and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. Give it a minute; you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Sigh. One of our sheep is having to be put down. She's just not eating and she can't get up, and she's clearly in pain.

Admittedly I didn't have as close a connection to her as my other animals, but I wouldn't have been so sad if this hadn't been the fourth death this year. First the cat, then my Aunt Vera, then one of our hens and now this. And six days until Christmas. >_<
