IMMD: So today, my brother, a couple of his friends, and I all went down to Chicago to go to a beach on Lake Michigan, followed by a dinner at a nice resturaunt (In which I had a bacon-wrapped meatloaf.) After this, the two friends dropped us off at a train station, where we would take a train down closer to where we live, and then get picked up by our parents.
Unfortunatley, the road we were going to take to the station was under construction, and the alternate route took us through every red light, so by the time we said goodbye to the friends and got down into the station, the train had already left, and the next one wouldn't come until two hours later.
We thought we could take another train to place not as close to home, but still pretty close, but right after we got the (Non-returnable) tickets to it, we found out that that train would also take two hours to get to the station, so, when we informed our parents about this, they just decided to drive down and pick us up.
Now, all of this would normally constitute as a TTBM, but, while we were waiting for our parents to arrive, which would take about 45 minutes, my brother decided to go down to a nearby 7/11 and get some cigarettes. As we were walking out of there, he asked if I cared that he smoked. I told him I didn't, and he responded at first with the whole "Well look, you shouldn't be doing what I'm doing, you shouldn't be smoking cigarettes, or weed, or anything like that," but then we eventually got into a pretty frank discussion about the drugs he's done, and he shifted his stance to a more neutral "If you're going to use drugs, here's what to expect," kind of thing. It's probably one of the deepest conversations I've had with my brother.
That in of itself was pretty nice, but then, right before we got picked up, he realized that we still had the tickets, so we found a father and his little son who were in line to buy tickets to the same train we decided not to go on, and gave them our tickets.
It might not have been the most memorable night of my life, but it was definatley worthwhile.
